Objective:

To be effective and succeed in our objectives 1683 Society (the Society) must guarantee a high level of ethics. To ensure this outcome, 1683 Society has adopted a zero tolerance policy for any non-compliance of the following standards. Each member of the Steering Committee (SC) must carry out their responsibilities for the Society in accordance to the following standards.   

At all times Steering Committee Members should:

  1. Keep political and personal views neutral when representing the organization.

  2. Speak with one voice by supporting all duly adopted decisions.

  3. Strive at all times to serve the best interests of the organization as a whole regardless of their personal interests.

  4. Use sound judgment to make the best possible business decisions for the organization, taking into consideration all available information, circumstances and resources.

  5. Act within the boundaries of their authority as defined the governing documents of the organization.

  6. Perform their duties without bias for or against any individual or group of owners or non-owner residents.

  7. Disclose personal or professional relationships with any company or individual who has or is seeking to have a business relationship with the organization.

At all times Steering Committee Members should NOT:

  1. Use their positions or decision-making authority for personal gain or to seek advantage over another owner or non-owner resident.

  2. Spend unauthorized organization funds for their own personal use or benefit.

  3. Accept any gifts—directly or indirectly—from owners, residents, contractors or suppliers.

  4. Misrepresent known facts in any issue involving organization business.

  5. Divulge personal information about any organization owner, resident or employee that was obtained in the performance of your duties.

  6. Make personal attacks on colleagues, staff or residents.

  7. Harass, threaten or attempt through any means to control or instill fear in any board member, owner, resident, employee or contractor.

  8. Reveal to any owner, resident or other third party the discussions, decisions and comments made at any meeting of the committee.

  9. Divulge/share any discussion or written information with anyone outside the 1683s Steering Committee.

  10. Address any code issue with a homeowner/resident individually/unilaterally.

  11. Disclose or disseminate a list of organization members, in part or whole, to any third party.  

  12. Disclose the number of organization members.
